Conquering Fears & Goals

Go back one month ago, we were nervously prepping for our first business conference.  Did we have cool enough clothes.... are we going to be outcasts... will we be able to connect with other women.... blah, blah, blah.  We have been wanting to attend the ALT Summit since first hearing about it, but this was our first year that we were able to attend, and it did not disappoint.  The trip deserves it's own blog post, when we have time for that.  Little did we know, we would conquer several personal fears, when pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zone.  One in particular which has came full circle already!

Day 2 in Palm Springs, we opened up our email and one catches our attention.  "Can I Call/Meet you next month?"  From the one and only, Jasmine Star [if you don't know her, you will want to].  Open it, thinking it's another one of her genius marketing techniques to learn about.  Not this time.  She was looking for businesses who would be interested in her giving them a full Social Media Marketing Strategy makeover, along with Creative Live (FOR FREE and broadcasted to hundreds of thousands of people!)

Fast forward to the application link.  Get it all filled out, and then read that we need to submit a public video on Instagram explaining why we would be a good fit for this project.  VIDEO? OF OURSELVES? First reaction was of course, OH GOSH, no thanks.  But we can't let this opportunity pass us up.  We decided we would tackle that the following day, in between some of our classes and meetings.  In a last minute rush, we transformed our colorful patio into our filming space.  Picture a selfie stick on top of the dining chair from hotel room, being held up with pillows.  The humor of the situation eased the nerves and we dove right in.  Video Submission complete.

We weren't sure if/when we would hear back either way, so we just went about the next 3 weeks, thinking we would have probably heard something by now if we were chosen.  No worries.  We were grateful to have the chance and proud that we stepped outside of our comfort zone.

The very next night, late into the evening, we got an IG message from Jasmine herself asking if he had some time to chat the next morning.  Is this real life?!  A video chat with one of our favorite mentors.  Total fan-girl moments over the next few days.  We were told they would be making a final choice in the next few days and we would get an email.  Working the next day away, the email came in ....

Dear Erin & Trisha,

Congratulations!I am happy to inform you that you have been selected to film on location with Jasmine Star for her class ‘Social Media Transformation'

In 10 days, we would be flying to Seattle for this once in a lifetime experience.  We are soooo excited and honored to be working with Jasmine and Creative Live and their teams!  So glad that we put our fears aside, and got in front of the camera for our submission.  Next task, FILMING in Seattle this month, and then again in June! 

Can't wait to get to work and share with all of your this amazing opportunity.
